I've been looking for this kind of ring since forever and I finally found one in Forever21. I was so enamored I had to buy 6 pieces.
I wanted to use my corkboard for reminders/printouts instead of as a picture frame so I tried to pile up the photos I've pinned on it and hung them some place else. I've only been 10% successful.
Oh btw, tip on where to get quality twine (ish), buy something from SM Dept. Store in MAKATI that wouldn't fit in any of their paper bags that they would be obligated to tie something around it. Unlike other SMs, they don't use straw (ick).
Spent a day in Nurture Village Wellness Spa in Tagaytay. I had a coconut body scrub (PHP1700) and I'm sold! I'm thinking of having one every other month.
Tinapa Rolls (I think) from Mesa Filipino. This was yummy and had a rich palette of flavors. Although, I could taste the salted egg more than I could taste the 'tinapa'.
TV Shows I'm Into Right Now
In general, I prefer my tv shows to be light. As much as I think dark plots are the most interesting ones, the emotions usually get to me and I end up being cynical or sad for the rest of the day. I think the ratio to my light-dark tv show is at 5:1, there are just some shows that you cannot NOT watch (sorry for the double negative). Here are some new and relatively new tv shows I am into. I watch more shows than the ones in the list but these are the ones that are the freshest in my memory right now.Brooklyn Nine Nine
I've always loved Andy Samberg in Saturday Night Live. His daily shorts sort of kept the showing hanging from a total decline. So it wasn't a surprise that I ended up loving his new one.
Veep
Julia Louis Dreyfus is an amazing actress. I'm just not sure how the show can continue being called Veep if Selena Meyer ends up being a president.
Silicon Valley
If I were to describe the show in four words: The struggle is real.
Agents of Shield
I can classify this more as a dark tv show but I love it. It's interesting. Also, the fact the Agent May is older than my mother is one badass fact.
Daredevil
I'm not that hooked to the show. It took me a couple of weeks to finish it which is saying something because this is a show from Netflix and they released all the episodes in one day. I still liked it. Hero is an eye candy.
iZombie
I love this one! The blurb of the show hooked me actually, add the fact that I'm a fan of anything zombie related. It's basically about a girl turned into a civilized zombie who eats brains from the morgue in order to solve the mystery of their death. Whenever she eats a brain, she sorta absorbs the personality and talents the person had.
Sense8
I needed to watch two or three episodes of this before I got what the plot is about. Very interesting. I could find some loopholes though if I watch it hard enough.
Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt
AHHHHH. This one climbed on to the top 5 shows I love in no time. Created by the genius Tina Fey, I knew this one is the perfect mix of comedy and awesome. It was bought by Netflix however so the 2nd season would be released next year in a lump sum format.
I'm currently trying The Brink and True Detective. Both from HBO. I'll let you know if I'm into it.
Escape from Anxiety
My anxiety gets toxic on some days to the point of mild depression and low self-esteem. It's just that I have the tendency to overthink stuff and I usually end up being sad and tortured. Sometimes I can escape it with a good book but there would be moments wherein my mind would wander off from what I'm reading and go to that dark corner. It gets tiring.I used to write down my anxiety (which was my go-to solution) until my notebook got lost and I'm not exactly willing to go buy another one. So I picked up another 'escape' - watercolor. I've always been fascinated with the medium, in fact, during museum runs, I've spent more time admiring watercolor works compared to other mediums. And that's saying something because I love modern art. I've just been dabbling on it, nothing breathtaking (yet). But it really works. The concentration I'd need in using watercolor takes my mind away from the unspeakable. The water runs and the color blots if you're not attentive enough.
Tadaaaa. I have 2 more palettes but I'm trying to go through this one first.
This looks like a disaster. But for the abstract eye, it looks kinda fine.
What's Up
It's been a while since I posted something here in and I feel like I should update now. Anyway, life tidbits in 3, 2, 1...
Been doing some organizing recently and look how from the Armageddon that is my printer table (right) it became a picturesque desk (left). Contents; several Bath and Body works (fall collection) candles, big sugar cookie candle, cute Penguin hand creme from Etude (gift from a friend), my favorite hand sanitizer from Watson's.
Totally purchasing this awesome heels from Payless (it's a steal too since it's just PHP995). All my heels are wedges since I was too scared to wear stiletto type ones - but I really think these kinds of shoes would make my legs look longer.
Adorable placemat from Bigg's Diner in Bicol. Food was nice but I was expecting diner-diner food (you know, tomato soup, pies, fried chicken) but they had all sorts of stuff that you can't actually comprehend what they were actually going for.
Speaking of Bicol, I was in the province for a while last week. It was a long drive (13 hours) and it was super exhausting. Trust me, I did a straight 13-hour flight and this one seemed much more draining. Mayon was beautiful as always and a tad cooperative since it was out 60% of the time we were there.
Stuff I love
I've been bitching about my shiny forehead ever since puberty. My go-to solution was Clean and Clear oil film but that stuff would only go so far. An hour or two after wiping oil off my face, it's back again. So I tried this one and it's heaven sent. It does keep my face oil free for 8 hours so I'd have to remind myself to reapply around 3pm. In the morning, I put it on after my liquid foundation, but since it doesn't come in my shade so I apply it verrrrrry lightly. (but it still works af). MAYBELLINE PEOPLE, MAKE THIS COME IN HONEY BEIGE!
It's time for change. I've been using Britney Spears' Curious as my perfume for the longest time, I believe since I was in 6th grade. Then I chanced upon this, fell in love, and have been using it since then. My mom got the CK Beauty so we sorta match.
For such a humid country, I have always been baffled why we don't have a market for dry shampoo. Maybe because when you tell people it's stupid to wash your hair every single day, you get laughed at for being gross. Something about us being too conscious I suppose? But seriously, shampoo your hair everyday and you'll get split ends so fast! Anyway, I've been contemplating on buying dry shampoos online because I've been having a hard time finding it anywhere. Good thing I saw this one in an SM Supermarket (it's the only place I've seen it, not even Watson's) and it smells so awesome! I saw another brand which was a hundred bucks cheaper but c'mon, you can never go wrong with Dove.
Makati CBD on a Holiday
So I had work on the past two holiday - Maundy Thursday and Good Friday - (no, I don't work in a call center) and it's sort of a mix of awesome and hassle. Well one, the roads are pretty much empty so the traffic was barely existent. But this is because public utility vehicles are on a holiday too and only a handful of routes have buses and jeeps. I was lucky enough that a route (albeit not my usual one) had buses coming in but it still meant I had to walk 4 kms a day because I'm cheap and I don't want to take the taxi. Food stalls are also closed and since my dad didn't have work, my mom didn't find it necessary to prepare my lunch so I had to scavenge for open fast food store. Despite everything, it was a pretty cool day. We get to wear comfy clothes at work and we're paid more than twice. And I get to see the beauty of Makati Central Business District without people and cars. The Sunday Currently
