Merry Christmas!!
Why I'm in love with SNL
My fascination with Saturday Night Live started during my bout of being a massive One Direction fan. How massive? To the point of I read fan fics, I watch youtube vids of them all night and just have them on constant repeat on my iTunes and tablet. It faded now though, but I'm still a fan. If they were to come here in the Philippines, I will certainly spend and watch them perform. Anyway, case in point... I started watching SNL when One Direction played as their musical guest and Sofia Vergara hosted. I was just interested in watching the performance of 1D but I got caught up in the whole show and marked myself as a fan. Credits to Kate McKinnon hilariously playing Penelope Cruz in a shampoo commercial. Hilarious! Ever since, I would patiently wait every Sunday evening or Monday morning for the torrented file of the recent SNL episode. Shhh. It doesn't take me that much to laugh or smile. Deliver me a corny joke that's been as old as the internet and I will still laugh. And SNL pretty much gives me a heaping serving of laughs. Favorite Sketches & Characters: Stefon Weekend Update Drunk Uncle Mascots by Justin Timberlake Target Lady Herb Welch
I have a stash of SNL episodes in my hard drive, some even dating back to early 2000s. I do wish I had access to earlier episodes though... like during the era of Chevy Chase, Will Ferrell, and Tina Fey. Heads up fellow SNL fans... Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake will be next week's host and musical guest and these two are sure to bring the house down. Jimmy Fallon's Christmas episode last year is still my favorite episode. And of course, I'm pretty sure JT will show up in a couple sketches (these two are tight yano). Bucket List: To visit to Rockefeller Center, home of SNL The Sunday Currently
P.S
That's a picture of my messy room.
Losing Weight.
Losing weight has been a long and tedious journey for me. I gained weight during my first years in college (freshman fifteen) and it really showed. My thighs and arms got big, my cheeks got full, and some of my jeans didn't fit anymore.
BEFORE
I started getting "Did you gain weight?" comments and I knew, I just had to lose weight.
I didn't do anything drastic like sign up for a gym membership or have one of those expensive diet plans. What I did took a while to take effect, but it was free and I'm sure I saved some money from it.
AFTER
What did I do? 1. Take the harder path if you can. Elevator or stairs? Take the stairs! I used to take 5 to 12 floors worth of stairs everyday when I still had classes. It saved me time from the long lines and I had my instant workout for the day. Also, learn how to love walking. The little steps count. When we go to the malls, I tell my parents that it's okay to park further than usual. If you have no time constraints and you are given an alternative of either walking or using a mode of transportation, always choose walking. This is why I love Makati! It's a walker-friendly place. The pedestrian lanes are far apart and there are underpasses at every crossroad. It also helps if you have one of those step-counter thingy on your phone. It's just rewarding to see the fruits of your labor.
3. Know what workout works best for you and stick to it. I'm a huge fan of the 30-day challenges and the blogilates. I love the planks and wall sit. It's not time consuming and I can do it anytime of the day. I can honestly tell you that I owe my thigh gap to Blogilates' Drive By Inner Thigh Challenge and 30-day Wall Sit Challenge.
4. Give up some guilty-pleasures. For me, I gave up drinking soda and eating meals at McDonalds (meals do not include sundaes and iced coffee). I never order drinks whenever we eat out. I take advantage of the service water. As for McDees, I used to love McNuggets but I haven't had them since June. It's a big price to pay for healthy living.
5. WATER.
I owe my reunion with my collarbone and shoulder blades to these tips. These two bones were lost in a sea of flesh and fat before and just this year, they reappeared and gave me the sign that my hard work finally paid off. End of November Haul
1 Shick Silk Effects refill. I don't know why I included this... but just to let you guys know, this + conditioner (any) works PERFECTLY as a shave-duo
2 Etude House nail polish. In Dear My Party and Icecream Blue. Both were a bit too expensive if you ask me. The only thing good with the IDMP is that it doesn't mess with the base color. The Icecream Blue looks a bit yummy but I'm sure I could find this color in a much cheaper brand.
3 Vaseline Aloe Fresh. I'm very particular when it comes to lotions. If my nose hates the smell, I sneeze n-times and start getting colds. However, this one is in good terms with my sense of smell... plus I love the chills-effect of aloe.
4 Eye-shadow palette from an unknown brand. I've been playing with my mom's EsteeL eyeshadow palette but it's just hues of blues (rhymed!). I wanted to try my hand at something else and since I don't know what color I'll be good with, something as cheap as this would work perfectly (100 bucks only!)
5 Olay Total Effects. People have been telling me to start on Olay early in life so I won't have to worry about skin stuff later... It's a bit sticky so I only use this at night before I head to bed. For the morning, however, before I put on gunk on my face I apply Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion.
